Current Schedule

Currently Sigrid is taking a well-deserved sabbatical, the first in 30+ years of teaching textile arts--> to celebrate this time well spent and to capture some time to finalize more books on handweaving. Sigrid continues to create woven art for exhibits and to work with Apprentices at ARTS weekly. If you live with an hour's drive of ARTS in western PA, perhaps you would like to be considered for the ARTS APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM. (If so, see the end of page for contact information.)

Exhibit from March 20 to May 8, 2010 in Pittsburgh PA:  "Sleight of Hand", sponsored by the Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh, is a unique exhibit in which each of the 54 participants reproduced one playing card as textile art for a deck of cards. These card decks are great fun and available for sale. Sigrid is the Ace of Clubs: Anni Albers. Gallery talk with Sigrid and other contributors is May 8th. See you there?

Exhibit from July 12 through August 31, 2009: "Summer Stitches", Erie Fiber Guild, July 12 through August 31, 2009 at the Wright Gallery, 116 East Third Street in Jamestown, NY.  This exhibit is made possible by funding from The Arts Council For Chautauqua County and The New York State Council On The Arts -- State And Local Partnership program.

Exhibit from February 27 to April 4, 2009: "Textile Art Inspirations", Heights Arts Studio at the Library, 2340 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights, OH. This is a Texile Art Alliance exhibition, the official textile link with the Cleveland Museum of Art.  Each piece in this unusual exhibition was inspired by a unique textile piece from the museum's Textile Education Department. Used whole or fragmented, each textile is either incorporated into a new work of textile art or provides the spark of inspiration for an entirely new piece. Sigrid based her fabulous gold and silver purses on the analysis of a handwoven folk fragment from a young girl's cap who lived in Romania.  It was woven at 120 picks per inch and 40 warps per inch of real gold and silver!  See http://www.taacleveland.org/program.html

bullet Exhibit from May 16-June 21 in Cleveland OH: Sigrid has two handwoven jacquard weavings entitled "A-Maze-Ing I" and "A-Maze-Ing II" in the juried exhibit: "Focus: Fiber 2008" sponsored by TheTextile Art Alliance of the Cleveland Museum of Art. Of 302 works from 132 artists in 7 states ony 45 works by 31 artists were accepted. Join us for the Opening Reception on May 16th at the Cleveland State University Art Gallery from 5 - 8pm. (Address is 2307 Chester Ave.) See http://www.clevelandart.org/museum/support/taa/html/6932940.html

Exhibit from April 5-April 26 in Pittsburgh PA: Sigrid had three framed miniatures, silk and tencel, couched with real silver in this juried exhibit: "Fiber Art: Thread from Body and Soul" sponsored by the Fiber Arts Guild of Pittsburgh. See http://fiberartinternational.org/guild/node/214
